Covid-19 Changes

The unprecedented pandemic which became a global issue in 2020 has now affected and possibly changed the way the Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago operates. We often times don't appreciate change but this new development in the legal system was quite overdue.

Some of the changes to date include;

1. Introduction of Virtual Courts;

2. E-filing;

3. Virtual Court Hearings;

4. E-service.

These new measures serve to  eliminate wasted time by driving to Court in traffic, paying extra filing fees associated with the manual transport and serving of documents and waiting in Court for a matter to be called. This initiative therefore REDUCES the legal fees our client's pay for services which are usually calculated based on time-spent. Therefore by reducing the time spent to Hear matters our client's bills are also reduced.

Attorneys are now required to register with the Judiciary and Ministry of Legal Affairs to conduct matters. At V. Soobrattie & Co. we always strive to secure and prioritise our client's interests by keeping up to date with changes to our legal system daily and we are well equipped to maneuver this virtual world.

Payments can also be made online to minimise any risk to our client's from contracting Covid-19 whilst we continue to work assiduously for you.  We can conduct online meetings with you via Whatsapp or Zoom as may be convenient to you.

Effective May 01, 2020 it is business as usual but in a virtual world and we are excited for this transition. So we welcome you  on this new adventure with us as we address all your legal needs so you and your family can focus on what matters most, your health and well-being.
