Vanessa N. Soobrattie received her Bachelor of Laws in 2010 from the University of London, England and completed her post graduate education at the University of Manchester. She was called to the English Bar as a Barrister in 2011 and to date she continues to enjoy membership at the prestigious Lincoln's Inn Court.
She worked for a well known law firm immediately upon return from England and was promoted to the position of Corporate Secretary at a State Enterprise within one (1) year as an Attorney. This new portfolio was Ms. Soobrattie's exposure to extensive property law and corporate governance rules. Her zeal to prosper led her to another ambitious law firm where she specialized in the area of property law, mortgage and finance and was promoted to Office Manager of one of the firm's branches.
She spent seven (7) years there advising the Bank on a range of issues. Her previous work experience gave her a competitive edge in communicating with state agencies on issues of distribution of leases and tenancies and the financing of same. Her tenacity landed her as the firm's representative on the Law Association's Sub- Committee- Corporate Commercial Conveyancing Committee, where she spent two (2) years working with a team of other lawyers, advising the Law Association and the Ministry of Legal Affairs on matters affecting the public and assisted in the construction of several Miscellaneous Provisions Bills, currently tabled for review by Parliament.
In 2018, Ms. Soobrattie commenced her practice of law as a sole practitioner when she established V. Soobrattie & Co. Ms. Soobrattie is continuing to expand her practice along with her experienced professional staff. Providing quality legal services to her clients, Ms. Soobrattie focuses on individual estate planning, business succession planning, business formations, commercial lease negotiations, finance, property law and family law.
